Alert!  To everyone in the adoption community. On Wednesday, February 26, Rep. Dave Camp, chairman of the Ways and Means committee of the United States House of Representatives, announced his tax reform plan.  In the draft bill he recommends eliminating the federal adoption tax credit after 2014 for non-special-needs adoptions.

You need to write your congressmen and your United States Senators that you want the adoption tax credit to remain part of the tax code.

I just learned that the adoption tax credit working group has set a goal of obtaining 30 members of Congress to cosponsor them adoption tax credit refund ability Bill this is important to every adopting family. There are discussions underway in both the House and the Senate and we need to keep the adoption tax credit top of mind with legislators and their staff. The best way to do this is to have constituents contact their congresspersons and advise them that they want them to support the adoption tax credit and the issue of refund ability.
